Why Have Signature Cocktails?

Personal Touch

Signature cocktails tell your story. Name them after where you met, your honeymoon destination, or inside jokes only your friends understand.

Testable Service Format

A validated batch may reduce build steps, but actual speed depends on pouring, chilling, garnish, glassware, payment, staffing and station layout. Test the service before sizing the bar.

Naming Decision

If you name a drink, make the label clear enough for guests and staff to identify the recipe. Include relevant ingredient or allergen information and keep an alcohol-free option visible.

Simpler Inventory

A limited signature-cocktail menu can reduce the number of distinct ingredients. Scale the final recipes first, then price those exact products against the alternatives.

Cocktail Menu Candidates

These are single-drink starting points, not approved production recipes. Test the exact recipe and yield, then have the provider confirm ingredients, allergens, holding, dilution, equipment and peak service capacity.

How to Batch Cocktails

Batching Formula

Start with the sitewide serving estimate, choose and document the share allocated to cocktails, then divide those cocktail servings by the original recipe yield. Multiply every ingredient by that scale factor.

Need recipe-scaled volumes? Use the batch cocktail calculator to convert a single recipe into the servings your event needs.

cocktail servings = total planned servings × cocktail share

scale factor = cocktail servings ÷ original recipe servings

scaled ingredient = original ingredient × scale factor

Batch With a Validated Plan

  • Combine only ingredients the final recipe permits
  • Use a clean, compatible food-contact container
  • Follow recipe-specific time and temperature controls
  • Test the chilled recipe and serving equipment first

Keep Separate Unless Approved

  • Carbonated mixers, when the recipe calls for adding them at service
  • Ice, unless measured dilution is part of the validated recipe
  • Egg or dairy ingredients without a safe provider-approved process
  • Fresh herbs and garnishes until the recipe's specified stage

Frequently Asked Questions

How many signature cocktails should we have?

Choose only as many recipes as the provider can prepare consistently at peak demand. Ask the provider to compare staffing, station space, ingredient inventory and tested build times for one, two or more recipes.

Should we have a his and hers cocktail?

Gendered names are optional. Choose recipes the couple and provider can stand behind, and use names tied to the menu, pets, a destination or another personal detail if that suits the event.

Can signature cocktails save money?

A shorter menu may reduce the number of distinct ingredients, but savings are not automatic. Compare the exact recipe ingredients, safe holding, equipment, labor, glassware and venue costs with a written full-bar quote.

How do you batch cocktails for a wedding?

Scale a validated recipe with the batch calculator and account for the share of planned servings assigned to cocktails. Combine only ingredients the recipe and provider approve, use compatible food-contact containers, and follow recipe-specific time, temperature, dilution and service guidance.

What about non-drinkers?

Include a clearly visible alcohol-free option and identify ingredients or allergens. Confirm its recipe, glassware, garnish, quantity and service method with the provider just as you would for an alcoholic cocktail.

When should guests get signature cocktails?

Choose a service window that fits the event schedule and provider capacity. Price cocktail-hour-only service against continued reception service, including the different serving totals, ingredients and labor.
